Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and My Bowling Journey LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company, covering your use of the My Bowling Journey app and website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
The short version
The app is free to use, with an optional paid subscription that renews until you cancel. Your bowling data is yours, and nothing you log is deleted if you stop paying. Don't abuse the service or other bowlers. The AI features can be wrong — check anything that matters. We can't promise the app is always available, and our liability is limited. Pennsylvania law governs, but if you live in Canada, Australia or New Zealand you keep every consumer right your own country gives you.
1.Who we are
My Bowling Journey is published by My Bowling Journey LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company. "We", "us" and "our" mean that company. "You" means you, the person using the app.
2.The service
My Bowling Journey lets you record bowling shots, games and sessions, and see statistics about your own game. It includes optional features for leagues, teams, coaching, importing scorecards from photos, and AI-generated observations about your statistics.
The core of the app is free to use. Some features are part of a paid subscription, My Bowling Journey Pro — section 4 sets out what that costs, how it renews and how to cancel. You will never be charged for anything without agreeing to it first. We may add, change or remove features over time.
3.Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may use the app only with a parent's or guardian's permission.
- A parent or guardian can record a younger bowler's games under their own account — adding them as a bowler, the way a paper scoresheet would. The child does not need an account of their own. The adult remains the account holder and is responsible for what they choose to record.
- You sign in with Google, or with a code or link emailed to you. Keep access to that email account secure — anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
- Give us an email address you actually control. Account recovery depends on it.
- Your account is for you. Don't share it, and don't create an account pretending to be someone else.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
4.Subscriptions and billing
Most of My Bowling Journey is free, and the parts that are free are meant to stay free: your own scores, averages, spare and strike percentages, and your ball-by-ball figures. My Bowling Journey Pro is a paid subscription that adds comparisons — you against other bowlers, one ball against another, one house or pattern against another, this season against last — together with scorecard import and the AI features.
The free Pro trial
Every new account has Pro free for its first 60 days, counted from the day the account is created. No payment method is asked for, and nothing is charged when the trial ends.
When the 60 days are up, the account moves to the free Basic plan unless you choose to subscribe. A subscription starts, and is charged, on the day you buy it. Nothing you logged is deleted either way.
Prices and renewal
- Pro is offered monthly or yearly. The current prices are shown on the welcome page and in the app before you confirm, and those are the prices that apply.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period — every month or every year — until you cancel.
- Prices are shown in your local currency where it is available — Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong or New Taiwan dollars, Japanese yen, Malaysian ringgit, Philippine pesos, Mexican pesos, South Korean won, Indian rupees, UAE dirhams or Costa Rican colones — and otherwise in US dollars. Any tax that applies where you live, such as GST, HST or QST, is shown before you confirm. In Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Mexico, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, the United Arab Emirates, Costa Rica, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand, prices are shown with tax included.
- If we change the price, we will tell you before it affects you, and you will have the chance to cancel first. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
Who takes the payment
On both routes, the payment is taken by a payment provider acting as the merchant of record — meaning they are the seller of record for the transaction, they handle the payment, and they are responsible for any sales tax or VAT on it.
- In the Android app: that is Google Play. Google's own terms and refund policy apply to the purchase in addition to these terms.
- On the web: that is Stripe, through Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe's terms apply to the payment itself in addition to these terms.
We never see or store your full card details on either route. Whichever route you use, your subscription and your access to My Bowling Journey Pro are governed by these terms, and we remain responsible for the service itself.
Cancelling
- Subscribed through the Android app: cancel in the Google Play Store app, under Subscriptions. We cannot cancel a Play subscription for you — Google does not allow it.
- Subscribed on the web: in the app, go to Settings → Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's secure page where you can cancel. You can also use the link in your receipt, or email us and we will cancel it for you.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Deleting your account cancels your subscription too. We stop it on your behalf so you are never charged again for an account that no longer exists. We do not refund the period you have already paid for, and because the account is gone you will not be able to use it for the remainder of that period.
Refunds
We do not generally refund part-used periods, because you keep access until the period you paid for ends. That said, if you were charged by mistake, or something was broken and we could not put it right, write to us at [email protected] and we will deal with it fairly. Purchases made through Google Play are also subject to Google Play's refund policy, and in some cases must be requested through Google.
Nothing here limits any refund or cancellation right you have under the consumer law of the place you live.
If your subscription ends
Nothing you have logged is deleted when a subscription ends. Every shot, game and session stays in your account and stays exportable. One league remains active and any others are paused — hidden from the app's statistics, not removed — and they come back exactly as they were if you subscribe again. You choose which league stays active.
5.Your data belongs to you
The bowling data you enter is yours. We do not claim ownership of it. You grant us only the permission we need to actually run the service — to store your data, process it to produce your statistics, send it to the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, and show it to the people you have chosen to share it with.
You can export everything at any time from Settings, and you can have it all deleted — see Delete your account.
6.Acceptable use
Don't:
- Use the app to harass, impersonate, threaten or abuse anyone
- Upload photos or content you don't have the right to use, or that are unlawful or obscene
- Try to access another bowler's account or data
- Probe, scan, overload or interfere with the service, or attempt to defeat rate limits or other protections
- Use automated means to create accounts, submit requests at scale, or scrape data
- Resell or commercially redistribute the service
- Use the app for anything illegal
The service depends on paid third-party APIs. Deliberately driving up usage — scripting sign-ins, mass-importing images, hammering the assistant — is a violation of these terms, and we may rate-limit or suspend an account that does it.
7.Teams, friends and coaching
Some features share your data with other bowlers, but only ones you accept, and they differ in scope:
- Teammates see your bowler name and the sessions and shots you recorded for that team — those only.
- Friends see each other's sessions and shots, and that is not limited to a shared team or league.
- A coach you accept sees your sessions and shots, and the notes they write for you.
Being in the same league is not sharing. A league is a label on your own records; it does not give other bowlers access to your name or your scores.
Because friends and coaches see more than teammates do, accept those from people you are content to show your bowling to. Once someone has seen something, we cannot control what they do with it. If you organise a team, you are responsible for how you treat the people on it.
8.AI features, and their limits
Scorecard import, Insights and the in-app assistant use AI, and AI gets things wrong.
- Scorecard import reads scores from a photo. It can misread them. Check imported scores before relying on them, especially for anything that decides a match, a handicap or a payout.
- Insights produces observations about your own statistics. They are descriptions of numbers, not coaching, and not predictions.
- The assistant answers questions about bowling. It can be confidently wrong.
Nothing in the app is professional coaching, medical, or physical-training advice. If you are dealing with pain or injury, see a qualified professional. Decisions about equipment, technique or competition are yours.
9.Availability
We do not guarantee the app will be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors. It depends on services we do not control, and it may be unavailable for maintenance, outages or reasons outside our control.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. The export in Settings exists for exactly this. We take reasonable care with your data, but we are not a backup service.
10.Ending your use
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account — see Delete your account.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, that we are legally required to act on, or that is being used in a way that endangers the service or other bowlers. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.
We may also discontinue the app entirely. If we do, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data first.
11.Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY STATISTIC, IMPORTED SCORE OR AI-GENERATED OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12.Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MY BOWLING JOURNEY LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13.Indemnity
You agree to indemnify My Bowling Journey LLC against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, or content you upload that you did not have the right to upload.
14.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you and we each consent to their jurisdiction.
If you live in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India or Taiwan
Some laws protect consumers and cannot be signed away. Nothing in these terms takes away a right or remedy you have under the law of the country or province you live in, and where these terms conflict with that law, the law wins. In particular:
- Australia. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Sections 11 and 12 apply only as far as that law allows, and do not limit your rights or remedies under it.
- New Zealand. If you are using the app as a consumer, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 applies, and nothing in these terms limits it. Sections 11 and 12 apply only as far as that Act allows.
- Canada. Your province's consumer protection laws still apply to you. If you live in Quebec, the Consumer Protection Act applies: sections 11 and 12 do not limit rights it gives you, and nothing here stops you bringing a claim in the courts of Quebec.
- India. The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 applies. Our grievance officer is Ryan Everett, [email protected]. We acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month of receiving it.
- Taiwan. The Consumer Protection Act applies. Purchases in the app follow Google Play's refund policy; purchases on the web are sold by Stripe, which applies Taiwan's rules on cancelling a distance purchase wherever they apply.
Anywhere else, the same principle holds: if the law where you live gives you a right these terms cannot override, you keep it.
15.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don't accept them, stop using the app and delete your account.
16.The rest
- If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Not enforcing a term straight away doesn't waive it.
- These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about the service.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours to a successor if the business is sold or reorganised.
